Growing up my Momma use to make these wonderful, small baking powder biscuits... she would get up early before work and roll out some biscuits, have bacon and eggs, feed us kiddos and then head out to work! Amazing!  I LOVE to bake and was so blessed to have a mom who baked and cooked for us even before and after a hard day at work, she would walk in the door, put on her apron and go to work! I can still see her now!
 She was a great "comfort food" cook and still to this day I cannot do justice to some of her recipes!  Her biscuits have a special place in my heart....


So, all that to say, when my girls were little and would go and stay at their Mimi's, she would make her biscuits.. and she did  not put butter on them, after rolling in flour and cutting, she baked them just as they were... and they always had this powdery finish... and one day, the girls starting asking for Mimi's" Powder Biscuits"! Hence, the name!!
I can make them, I will say, but they still to me just aren't the same!


I decided to call my blog "Powder Biscuit's" in honor of my mom and our family's memories of her in the kitchen. My precious Momma passed away 3 years and we will forever miss her. She left behind many precious memories for us girls( my sister's and I) and traditions to carry on with our children and their's! I am now Mimi! After Mom passed of a long battle with cancer, my daughter had her first daughter. I was to be Grammy, because we had just lost Mom and I could not be Mimi. But one day Izzy, my first grandchild started calling me Mimi...I kept saying Grammy to her for a long time..but Mimi it was.. now I am "Mem" for short.. that is what my girls called my Mom.. and I love it! I know I will never be able to cook the way she did, but I have my own style of Powder Biscuit's with my Mom in my heart!
